Peerless Aquacare has a unique opportunity for a Aquacare Support Technician to join their team on a temporary contract basis. Peerless Aquacare helps eliminate invasive weeds in the water so their clients can make the most of the cottage and boating season. If you like the outdoors and want to be part of a unique and growing industry, we want to hear from you! This is the perfect opportunity for a retiree (or anyone else) looking for some temporary work or a student who would like to work hard in June and July and have August off.

Licenced by the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks and SePro, Peerless Aquacare treats unwelcome and invasive water vegetation. They travel across Ontario and provide our services to a combination of privately owned cottages, marinas, and municipally owned waterfronts. Peerless Aquacare is one of only a handful of companies that offer these types of services. Their work makes a meaningful difference to our clients allowing them to use and enjoy their waterfronts to their fullest!

What would I be doing?
  • As an Aquacare Support Technician, you will be supporting Peerless Aquacare’s President on the water. 
  • Provide exceptional support to the Peerless Aquacare team whether that is by providing instructions to align the boat properly, mixing chemicals or helping to problem solve unexpected challenges.
  • Measure distances, complete calculations, and support with the mixing for the application of our weed control products.
  • Be a positive, effective, and enthusiastic team member.
  • Be a trusted ambassador of Peerless Aquacare.
 
What are we looking for in our ideal candidate?
  • Love for the water and working outdoors in all types of weather.
  • Driver’s license in good standing is required.
  • Familiarity with boats is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Proficient in simple math.
  • Punctuality and reliability are critical for this position.
  • Enthusiastic and quick to learner.
  • This position is ideal for a recent retiree or summer student
 
Other Important Details:
  • The length of this contract is for June and July only.
  • Regular overnight travel is required. The typical schedule involves leaving Sunday from Kitchener-Waterloo and returning to Kitchener-Waterloo on Thursday or Friday. 
  • Work hours tend to be long and involve starting first thing in the morning and working until the job is done.
  • The job has a significant physical component, involves awkward postures, and requires the ability to lift up to 50lbs.
 
What we offer?
  • This is a contract position for our busiest months of June and July. We would like the right candidate to start with us in early June. We offer:
  • A competitive salary with season end bonus
  • Food and accommodation paid for while traveling.
  • Training provided by Peerless Aquacare’s President and Owner, a highly experienced Steward of the Water with an Aquatic Pesticide License.
  • Peerless Aquacare uniform so you can look great while working on the water.
 
Are there bonus points? You Bet! Bonus points if you have any of the following:
  • Boater’s Card in good standing.
  • Education and/or experience in forestry, agriculture, aquaculture, or environmental sciences.
