Description

The Opportunity
Our client, a scaling international tech firm, is looking for a hands-on Financial Controller to lead their finance department. This is not a "desk-from-a-distance" leadership role. We need a high-integrity, technically elite accounting professional who takes pride in executing the day-to-day tactical work while providing the leadership maturity to own the department’s outcomes.

Core Responsibilities

  • Execute Full-Cycle Operations: You are the primary driver of the daily accounting function. You will personally manage and perform bank reconciliations, AP/AR entries, and payroll processing for both Canadian and U.S. entities using QuickBooks.
  • Lead the Month-End Close: You will own the entire close process from start to finish, ensuring the general ledger is accurate, journal entries are posted, and financial statements are produced with precision.
  • Unified Management Ownership: You will lead a small team by example. When communicating company-wide or departmental decisions, you lead with "we" and "I," taking full accountability for management's direction.
  • Cross-Border Tax & Compliance: You will be the internal subject matter expert for GST/HST and U.S. sales tax filings, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met in-house before coordinating with external auditors.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Beyond the data entry, you will build and maintain Tableau dashboards and Excel models to provide leadership with clear, actionable visibility into the company’s performance.
  • What You Bring

  • A "Doer" Mentality: You find satisfaction in the precision of daily accounting tasks. You aren't looking to delegate the basics; you are looking to master them and ensure they are done right.
  • Managerial Courage: You possess the professional maturity to deliver and support leadership decisions with conviction. You are a bridge-builder who fosters trust between the staff and the CEO.
  • Technical Excellence: You are a CPA with 7+ years of experience. You are a power user of cloud-based accounting software and have a proven track record in cross-border (CDN/US) environments.
  • Communication: You can pivot seamlessly from a detailed technical reconciliation to a high-level strategic discussion with the executive team.
The Perks
  • Salary: $110,000 – $130,000
  • Benefits: A comprehensive benefits program is provided, featuring generous time off allowances.
  • Direct Impact: Your fingerprints will be on every aspect of the company’s financial health.
  • Stability & Growth: Join a stable, growing firm that values hard work, transparency, and a "get-it-done" attitude.
